Venezuela positively valued in Belgium for complying with diamond production protocols

“What we are announcing today reflects the strict compliance of Venezuela with the international protocols of quality, solvency and safety in the production of diamonds”, said the national mining prosecutor, Higinio Benítez, after participating in the special forum of the Intersectional Meeting of the Kimberley Process Certification System (SCPK) 2018: “The world acknowledges Venezuela’s commitment to advance to a responsible, productive mining with less environmental impact”.

As a member of the national delegation that presents the progress of the Mining Engine in Belgium, Benítez reported that, on Wednesday, June 20, several working groups were held, in which Venezuela stood out for the faithful compliance with the rules, regulations and procedures of SCPK, and the requirements for accreditation, in alluvial mining and in artisanal mining of diamond veins.

Benítez stressed that the country “was up to the expectations in Belgium” during the presentations made by representatives of the Central Bank of Venezuela and the Ministry of People’s Power for Ecological Mining Development, since it has “strictly” complied with all the parameters of the Kimberley Process.

“In the first meeting, we dealt with the issue of mining control and environmental control; then, we discussed with the delegations of 80 countries, the strict compliance with the certification scheme, the traceability of the diamond; that is, the exhaustive and detailed monitoring of the route that this mineral makes from the mine to the final buyer; as well as the adoption of cutting-edge technologies for the identification and certification of raw ore”, said the prosecutor.

Venezuela approves exchange of good mining practices:

The national mining prosecutor said that, during the meeting, it was agreed to exchange working methods, good practices and mining technologies with major strategic allies such as China and Russia, countries with which Venezuela has forged responsible business relationships for several years.

“We approved the exchange of knowledge on the subject, with other mining nations. Each country put at the disposal of the delegations, the processes that lead to a good traceability, as well as the procedures of the Kimberley Process that emphasize the production of diamonds of peace, free of conflicts”, he emphasized.

Venezuelan diamonds, peace diamonds:

According to the national mining prosecutor, this recognition of the international certification system for the diamond trade also confirms that, in the processes of production and marketing of diamonds made in Venezuela, there is no human exploitation, no children working in the mines, nor processes destructive of nature.
