The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, reaffirmed before the United Nations (UN) Venezuela’s commitment to peace and the implementation of Bolivarian peace diplomacy, always in respect of the sovereignty of the people.
«In Venezuela we have developed the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, always respecting the sovereignty of the peoples or countries that need assistance; never with a method or intentions disguised as interventionism in the internal affairs of the countries», said the foreign minister during his speech in the Interactive Dialogue «UN global and integrated approach to peace».
Arreaza urged UN members to join efforts to empower the people and advance social, cultural and political gains to prevent possible wars.
«We must unite efforts to empower the people and communities from the cultural, political, social point of view, because it is necessary that the most vulnerable have power granted by the State and international institutions, to join» and thus avoid wars resulting from the «Inequality, of poverty, of exclusion», he said.
He indicated that those countries that violate the rights and principles of the UN cannot claim to represent or participate in this organization and «should be left aside.»
He stressed that the Agenda for Sustainable Development of the nation is based on the bases of the revolution and mentioned that the 2019-2025 Homeland Plan, presented by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, contemplates the objectives of sustainable development, respecting the sovereignty and equality.
The Venezuelan diplomat stressed the challenges that constitute the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and terrorism on the planet.
«They are pending issues. We have to generate confidence, in multilateralism, in the United Nations, to be able to face these challenges of today’s world», he said.
In this context, he urged the states parties to transcend the reactive positions with a vision to design firm policies that promote the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in accordance with the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations.
