Nobody is going to stop us! Oil workers must be prepared against imperial threats

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized on Sunday that Venezuela is prepared to defend its freedom and sovereignty, for which it rejected the threats of the United States and Argentina’s Governments to implement oil sanctions against Venezuela.

“Argentina has just threatened us with an oil embargo. We are prepared. Venezuela, workers in the oil industry, we are being threatened by imperialism. We are ready to be free and nothing and nobody is going to stop us”, said the President through a Facebook Live broadcast.

This Sunday, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie announced that they are studying the implementation of these oil sanctions to put “pressure” on the Government of President Maduro.

During a press conference held in Argentina after holding a private meeting with Faurie, the head of US diplomacy revealed that they are studying “to put sanctions in oil”, prohibiting its sale in the United States or “refining products that come from Venezuela”, as reported the EFE agency.

Tillerson, who arrived in Argentina on Saturday as part of the tour that he has undertaken through several Latin American countries since February 1, said that before launching measures of this kind, it is essential to analyze what would be theirs in other countries of the region in order “to be careful not to affect them negatively”.

For his part, the Argentine foreign minister said that before taking action on oil sales and trade, it is essential to carry out “precise monitoring”.

Prior to his tour, Tillerson announced on Thursday, February 1, that Washington “will continue to put pressure” against Venezuela, and hinted that the Venezuelan military could become “agents of change,” statements that were condemned and described as aggression and interference by the Venezuelan State. and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
