Dismantled terrorist cells with destabilizing aims in the country

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported on Monday that state security forces managed to dismantle a terrorist group with antecedents in the attack last year to the headquarters of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace, and which were planning an attack with a bomb car in front of an embassy in Caracas.

In his annual message to the nation before the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), the Head of State said that the investigations on this terrorist group led «to dismember several cores» of this organization. «We knew that they had prepared a bomb car to explode it in front of an embassy from a beloved and prestigious country», said the President.

He explained that the people who were being trained by this seditious group declared before the authorities, and specified that after the terrorist pretensions with the placement of the explosives: «they had been promised protection by the Colombian Government in Colombia».

In a broadcast by VTV, Maduro informed that during the capture procedure, the terrorist group attacked the police officers causing the death of two of them at the moment that were being negotiated the conditions for the delivery and protection of the delinquents.

He explained that the incident also left «six seriously injured officials who are torn between life and death», as well as several deaths of this group and more than five captured.

«Anyone who enters the path of terrorism and arms against the Republic and against the people will have the timely response of our Bolivarian National Armed Forces and our police forces», he said.

In this regard, he congratulated all the security forces that participated in these raids for contributing to the dismantling of this group.
