The President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, said from the National Pantheon leading the commemorative events of the 187 years of the physical disappearance of the Liberator and father of the country, Simón Bolívar, that 2017 culminates in victory and the Venezuelans they are going through a new awakening of the people, with a revolutionary conscience.
“On this occasion as part of the awakening of a new consciousness, of hope, of struggle for sacrifice, within the 18 years of the Revolution when it comes to elections we have obtained the highest votes, telling the truth, defeating the candidacies of the right wing and the opposition, we must hold on to the truth to renew the hope of the people”, said the President.
President Maduro gave the example of Zulia state, regarding the past municipal elections.
“Out of 21 municipalities in Zulia state, we won 19, in a democratic way including Maracaibo. Because our candidates took to the streets to tell the truth to the people”.
He assured that what the Bolivarian Revolution has had to endure in 2017 is no small thing.
“In the first semester an excessive violence, full of guarimbas (riots) of pain and death, they tried to fill us with violence to justify a military intervention, but our people did not leave, and in the second semester there was a miracle, a rebirth of the people with the National Constituent Assembly”, he recalled.
He stressed that on July 30 there were elections of the ANC with more than 8 million Venezuelans who participated for peace, then the elections of Governors with overwhelming results.
“Later on December 10 the (election of) mayors and surprisingly gave the rebirth of the people and thanks to the conscience of our people, we won the municipals”, he said.
For the Head of State, this is the path of independence, of the conscious people, of democracy, of the rebirth of a conscious people.
