Emilio Hernández, a university professor specializing in financial matters, said on Tuesday that the launch of the new Venezuelan crypto-currency (Petro), announced by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, is positive and not a reckless measure, and its relationship is with the Bolívar currency, not with dollars.

According to Hernández, the Petro could become a saving instrument. He also indicated that the Bolívar and the Petro cannot be competing, but complementary currencies, in addition “the Petro can be bought in bolivars”.

For his part, Omar Arias, a computer engineer, considered that: “the development of our own crypto-currency with oil and other minerals, allows the country to break the dependence on the parallel dollar that damages the people so much”. The information was provided during their participation in the “Dando y Dando-Radio” (Taking and giving-Radio) program, broadcast by RNV Informative channel.

As it may be recalled this Sunday, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, announced the creation of the Venezuelan crypto-currency system, the first of which is the Petro, which will be backed by the nation’s oil, diamond, gas and gold reserves.
