President Nicolás Maduro reaffirms declaration to EU ambassador as “Persona Non Grata”

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, reaffirmed this Wednesday the decision taken by the National Assembly to declare the ambassador of the European Union (EU), Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa, as “persona non grata”.

“Yesterday in the National Assembly they decided to declare the EU ambassador as “persona non grata“. We are not going to accept aggressions from anyone,” said the Head of State during his speech on Productive Wednesday broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

He indicated, in turn, that based on the sovereign decision of the National Assembly, the Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, proceeded to declare the EU Ambassador in the country as persona not grata.

“The European Union is accepted and welcomed in Venezuela as long as they respect the democracy of our country,” said the National President, who urged the EU representatives to rectify, “Or Venezuela will not maintain any dialogue with you, Venezuela is to be respected“, he highlighted.

Lastly, he stressed that the National Government has always worked to have the best relations with all of Europe, “But we cannot accept anyone to come to offend, attack and punish Venezuela,” asserted the dignitary.
