President Maduro calls for civic-military union against conspiracies against the Constituent

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Thursday that opposition sectors are trying to develop a conspiracy plan against the Constituent Assembly, and therefore he called on the people to the civic military union in defense of this process.

“If one day the people of Venezuela wakes up with some news of a conspiracy, of a plot, to try to stop the popular constituent process, which is constitutionally set for July 30, I call on the civic-military union to defeat in the streets the conspiracy, the plot and coup d’ etat that may be tried against this Constitutional call (the Constituent)”, urged the National President in an event held at the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas with the staff of the Magisterium.

The Constituent Assembly will be composed of 364 territorial constituencies, eight indigenous and 181 sectoral, which will be distributed as follows: in the sector of workers will be selected 79 representatives; Peasants and fishermen, 8; Businessmen, 5; Pensioners, 28; Persons with disabilities, 5; Students, 24; And communal councils and communes, 24.

The President recalled that the constituents will be elected by a secret, free and universal vote on Sunday, July 30, and in that sense he called on the voters to participate massively. “Let’s vote for peace, for union, for the right to the future, for a Constituent of peace!”

The Constituent Assembly seeks to strengthen the Bolivarian Constitution and shield the rights and social achievements of the Venezuelan people. However, this initiative is rejected by extremist sectors of the opposition, which since early April have been carrying out a coup plot characterized by violence and terrorist acts, which has left more than 60 dead and more than a thousand injured, to which adds millions of damages to public and private property.

“You have to be alert to defend it, because there are those who want to hit the constituent process. They are mounting a conspiracy against the constituent process”, warned the Head of State, a reason why he called on the Venezuelans to be alert and in permanent mobilization by the peace.

“Alert, people! Alert against the traitors, against the treason. People to the fight, people to the battle. Let’s go to the Constituent!”, he said, and warned that among the right-wing plan against the Constituent Assembly highlights the right of the people to suffrage. “They threaten the people so you will not go to vote”, he said.

In that sense, he said that these coming 52 days, prior to those elections, “must be of an admirable campaign, of street conscience, of mobilization”.
