Maduro: The Revolution succeeded in freeing the country from oil dependence


The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, said on Tuesday that with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution to the country, was achieved to free the national investment and the budget from the dependence on oil.
“The revolution was building a tax culture along with sources of physical, financial and material wealth, and today we can say that a 91% of the national budget, of the investment expenditures that are needed by the Republic in Bolivars for its operation, comes from the work in production and the collection of national taxes”, said the Head of State from Miraflores Palace where he held a meeting with the educational sector.
He also noted that in 1998 and 1999, this is, almost the entire decade of the 90s, the budget of the nation depended on oil revenues by a 70%, “Would that be true today, we would almost have to close down the doors, with this subject of the oil prices downfall”.
In this regard, he said that the 14 production engines for stabilizing the economy continue advancing and that the Revolution will not give up nor will surrender the Homeland under any circumstances.
