Venezuela rejects renewal of US unilateral sanctions

Through a communiqué, the Chancellory of the Republic categorically rejected the approval in the US Congress of the extension of the unilateral, illegal and violating of the international law sanctions over our country.
The document notes that Venezuela is a sovereign country since 205 years ago, and will not be precisely the imperial pretensions contained in illegitimate sanctions which will divert our country of the course its people decided.
In addition, the Venezuelan Government urged President Barack Obama to respect international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter.

BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA
MINISTRY OF PEOPLE’S POWER
FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS
COMMUNIQUÉ:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the approval in the US Congress of the extension of the unilateral, illegal and violating of the international law sanctions, which the United States maintains over our country.
Venezuela is a sovereign country since 205 years ago. We won our independence from the world’s most powerful empire, and it will not be precisely the imperial pretensions contained in illegitimate sanctions which will divert our country of the course that its people, exercising their sovereignty, self-determination and participatory democracy, has decided to give towards building a more joust, democratic and peaceful society.
We demand President Barack Hussein Obama to respect international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, and once again we urge not to enact this law that goes against the multilateral system, and to repeal the executive order, given that he himself has publicly acknowledged that Venezuela poses no threat against the United States. The international community has ratified this message demanding the repeal of the US unilateral actions.
The imposition of unilateral sanctions on Venezuela demonstrates the double standards of the US Government, which on the one hand claims to be in favor of a dialogue in Venezuela, and at the same time, with this political gesture, encourages the historically anti-democratic and violent sectors of the opposition, to continue sabotaging the efforts to maintain peace and respect to the Venezuelan Constitutional order.
The People and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates confidence in their legitimate institutions, and condemn any attempt to disown and intimidate them, reaffirming its belief in the words of Commander Hugo Chavez: «No one will stop the victorious march of the Homeland of Simon Bolivar!»
