The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced the decision to request the immediate suspension of energy cooperation agreements with Trinidad and Tobago, due to the decision by their Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to align herself with a hostile agenda promoted by the United States (US) against Venezuela.
The measure was announced this Monday by the Vice President and Minister of People’s Power for Hydrocarbons, following a joint meeting of her office’s board of directors and Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). The central reason for this decision lies in the position of the Trinidadian leader, who has joined the escalation of aggression against Venezuela with false flag provocations, the purpose of which is to fuel a war in the region.
Vice President Rodríguez explained that President Nicolás Maduro will be asked for the denounce and immediate suspension of the Macro Agreement on Energy Cooperation, signed between the two nations in 2015. This agreement, which was originally valid for 10 years and was renewed for another five years last February, includes a clause that allows either party to denounce it. The direct consequence of this action would be the suspension of all gas agreements currently held between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.
The proposal by the Ministry for Hydrocarbons is based on the actions by Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar in adhering to Washington’s war-mongering agenda, as Rodríguez explained, also quoting statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding a plan “to steal gas from Venezuelans» and benefit Trinidad and Tobago, within the framework of a war over oil and gas resources.
She explained that the Venezuelan government is keeping the national and international public informed about the US aggression campaign in the Caribbean. In this regard, she revealed the arrest of a group of individuals linked to the CIA, who have provided information that demonstrates a false flag plan to escalate a military aggression against Venezuela, simulating attacks on US equipment to incriminate the country.
Finally, Vice President Rodríguez emphasized that the only way to acquire Venezuela’s gas and resources is through energy cooperation: «The way is peace, brotherhood between our peoples, cooperation,» she emphasized.
