In the framework of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), a Venezuelan diplomatic delegation has delivered a forceful warning to the organization’s headquarters in New York. The mission seeks to alert about the worsening war situation in the Caribbean and demand an immediate cessation of political, diplomatic, and military aggression by the United States government against Venezuela.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced this action during his «Con Maduro+”program. In his speech, he reiterated that the country has achieved a perfect fusion between People’s Power, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), and the police forces, presenting it as a bulwark against external threats.
The head of state highlighted Venezuela’s resilience in the face of what he described as multiple forms of aggression. He affirmed that the people have responded with dignity and firmness to these wars waged against the South American nation, consolidating an unwavering defense stance.
He expressed his Bolivarian conviction by stating: «Fortunately, we have seen millions of humble, ordinary men and women in Venezuela defeat powerful empires in all the forms of war they have inflicted upon us, and are prepared with weapons in hand to defend this sacred land”. With these words, he emphasized the country’s willingness to resist any scenario of conflict.
The Venezuelan delegation also responded to recent statements by opposition leader Leopoldo López, who publicly urged the US to take military action. The president categorically rejected these affirmations, qualifying them of being irresponsible and dangerous, and launched a strong personal attack on the far-right leader.
The Venezuelan diplomatic mission to the UN will continue its work to defend peace, sovereignty, and international law. Its objective is to reaffirm the State’s commitment to fundamental principles such as non-intervention, self-determination of peoples, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, in the face of what it perceives as an escalation of tensions in the region.
