Chancellor Gil: A call for unity in the face of a global geopolitical threat

Chancellor Yván Gil made an urgent call for regional unity during his intervention at the meeting of Chancellors of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in New York. In the face of complex global geopolitics, Gil emphasized the responsibility of Latin American and Caribbean countries with the humanity.

The chief of the Venezuelan diplomacy pointed out that international rule of law is systematically violated by powers. In this context, he mentioned regrettable situations such as the genocide in Palestine, and stressed the need to resort to the thought of Bolivarian and Latin American unity.

One of the central themes of his speech was the denunciation of the militarization of the Caribbean Sea. Gil described the US military deployment as a direct threat to the zone of peace proclaimed by CELAC in 2014, considering it as an aggression against the region.

Gil specifically referred to the presence of a nuclear submarine in the area. He warned that this is not only an intimidation of Venezuela, but a threat to the peace of the entire region, where an attack on one country could affect its neighbors and the regional economy.

The Chancellor dismantled the pretext used to justify this military presence. He stated that has been used the big lie to falsely accuse Venezuela of facilitating drug trafficking routes, an argument that lacks any factual basis.

To support his position, Gil recalled that for 25 consecutive reports, the United Nations has declared Venezuela a territory free of illicit crops and drug production. He emphasized that the country complies with all international commitments in the fight against drug trafficking, highlighting its record of cooperation.
