The World Peace Council (WPC) has issued a statement strongly condemning the dispatch and deployment of US warships off the coast of Venezuela. The organization described this action as a direct threat to the country’s territorial integrity.
WPC points out that these military maneuvers have a clear objective: interference and intervention aimed at seizing Venezuela’s vast and rich energy reserves. It denounces that this is not an isolated action, but rather part of a prolonged strategy of pressure.
The statement emphasizes that this new and serious military escalation occurs after years of economic sanctions and financial blockades against the Venezuelan people. It underscores that the ultimate goal of the United States has always been the control of natural resources and the total destabilization of the nation.
Furthermore, the organization called for a reminder of the long history of foreign interventions and military coups in Latin America carried out by the United States. In this context, it emphasized that this latest episode constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the sovereignty of peoples.
The WPC also specifically condemned the offer of a multimillion-dollar reward for the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, calling it an attitude proper of the «Wild West» that disowns all norms of international coexistence.
In light of this situation, the World Peace Council demanded the immediate cessation of all threats of war by the United States and the unconditional withdrawal of its armed forces from the region. Finally, it expressed its unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people and supported their right to freely and independently define their future and their leadership.
