The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced during a meeting with governors and mayors of the Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole the activation of the territorial militias this week:
«This week I will activate the special security plan, with the territorial militias, 4,500,000 members throughout the territory, special and armed militias,» he stated.
The president instructed that work be done on the creation of peasant and worker militias, with combatant corps in factories and workplaces. He emphasized that a key element of this plan is to deploy the militia’s capacity throughout the country, establishing its presence in all territories to guarantee the peace, tranquility, and sovereignty of the nation. Maduro described this strategy as a «perfect fusion of the people, the police, and the armed forces.»
The president also addressed the Colombian Armed Forces, recalling that both countries shared a single army that achieved independence. He criticized the presence of foreign bases in the region, which he considered a humiliation, and warned that «no empire will ever again touch Bolívar’s sacred land.»
Maduro affirmed that the «third transformation,» focused on security, citizen defense, and territorial defense, is underway to ensure peace and stability in Venezuela.
