The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated the start of the Constituent Congress of the Venezuelan teachers’ movement, marking a historic milestone in the reorganization of the education sector.
Through a message on his Telegram channel, the head of state congratulated the teachers for their work, highlighting their role in building a free, scientific, and public education. He also urged them to continue working for a pedagogy of quality that impulses social transformation:
«The proposals you bring, the conclusions, and the decisions you will make, make of this Constituent Congress the first social constituent process of the workers’ movements that must begin throughout this new social and economic structure of the Republic,» he exclaimed.
The Venezuelan president emphasized that teachers must be the last line of defense for values such as peace, justice, and equality. «You are fundamental to the new school, the new homeland, and the new society,» he stated during his speech.
He called for the protection and strengthening of the Venezuelan education system, highlighting educators’ commitment to educating future generations.
Finally, he concluded his message with a moving «Long live the teachers of this free and beautiful Homeland!» reaffirming the government’s support for this key sector for the country’s development.
This constituent congress marks an important step in the restructuring of the teachers’ union movement, with a view to consolidating an educational model aligned with the principles of the Bolivarian Revolution.
