Venezuela eager to establish relations of cooperation and respect with the United States

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his government’s willingness to establish relations based on respect, communication, and cooperation with the United States (US). During an interview on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of TeleSUR, he emphasized that both countries are moving toward mutual understanding, which could lead to mutually beneficial hemispheric collaboration.

The Venezuelan president emphasized the importance of recognizing each country’s distinct historical and political models, inspired by revolutions such as the American, Haitian, and Bolivarian revolutions. He stressed that respect for these differences is key to building peace diplomacy and avoiding unnecessary tensions in the international arena.

The head of state reiterated his commitment to dialogue as a fundamental tool for resolving differences: «We will always insist on talking, on fostering understanding to move forward,» he affirmed, criticizing the unilateral practices that have marked relations between nations in the past.

He also asserted that Venezuela has never interfered in the internal affairs of the United States and called for an end to interventionist policies: «One day that old hegemonic custom must disappear,» he declared, advocating for a new approach to international relations based on sovereignty and non-interference.

He reaffirmed that his government will maintain a foreign policy centered on the defense of independence, cooperation, and the pursuit of peace: «We will continue on the path of dialogue and understanding,» he maintained, highlighting that Venezuela is open to constructive exchange with all nations.

With these statements, President Maduro seeks to position Venezuela as an actor willing to normalize and improve its relations with the United States, always under principles of mutual respect and equity. His message reinforces the idea that dialogue and diplomacy are the most effective ways to resolve global conflicts.
