The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, announced this Tuesday, July 22, that the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB) is prepared to execute the Plan República (Republic Plan – Military Safety Device for Elections) for the municipal elections on Sunday, July 27.
Through his account on Instagram, Padrino López stated that starting Wednesday, July 23, more than 15,000 voting centers will have military personnel to safeguard electoral materials and guarantee the security of voters and the process.
Election Protection and Logistics:
The operation will include the presence of FANB troops at voting centers authorized by the National Electoral Council (CNE), as well as logistical support for the transportation, installation, and safekeeping of electoral equipment.
In addition, the armed forces will collaborate in maintaining public order throughout the day, working alongside civilian authorities. These types of operations are common in electoral processes and are in compliance with current legal provisions.
In these elections will be elected 335 mayors and 2,471 councilors. The National Youth Consultation, aimed at people between 15 and 35 years of age, will also be held to select community initiatives aligned with the 7 Transformations of the Plan de la Patria (Homeland Plan).
