The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, presented an assessment this Thursday of the activation of the Andes 2025 Task Force to assist the Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, and Táchira states, affected by the recent rainfalls.
Accompanied by the authorities of the various entities comprising the response team for the deployment of the work teams, the head of state emphasized that through the seamless integration of popular, military, and police action, the flooding generated in parts of the national territory due to Tropical Wave No. 9 has been immediately addressed.
In this regard, the Venezuelan president noted that the heavy rainfalls have occurred in the western Venezuelan Andes and that, from the outset, the people have been assisted by activating machinery, equipment, and designing plans.
He added that joint work has been carried out with regional representatives from all affected areas where the impacts have been significant, such as the governors of Táchira and Trujillo states, Freddy Bernal and Gerardo Márquez. He has also maintained constant communication with the governor of Mérida state, Arnaldo Sánchez; as well as the regional governor of Apure state, Wilmer Rodríguez, with whom he maintained contact during the early morning hours; and Adán Chávez, of Barinas state.
Capitalism has destroyed the planet’s ecological balance:
«Climate change is generating temperatures far above what planet Earth has experienced for millennia. There has been a change because capitalism has destroyed the planet’s ecological balance,» asserted the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
He pointed out that calculations generated by experts in the 1980s and 1990s showed that with global warming, there was already a risk of temperatures rising to 1.5 degrees Celsius, which «would mark the beginning of a point of no return and the climatic collapse of planet Earth.»
The national leader specified that the reports detailing this information were «hidden and unknown.» and that, although they also tried to discredit them, that 1.5 degrees Celsius increase in the planet’s global temperature has already been surpassed.
