National Government discusses mechanisms to strengthen social protection for workers

Together with the Venezuelan workers, we are promoting mechanisms to strengthen social protection, fostering collective efforts toward the country’s well-being and sustainable development in a context of economic war,” reported the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, after meeting with members of the Bolivarian Socialist Workers’ Union (CBST).

The meeting was held to review progress in the restoration of the Integral Minimum Income announced by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. Rodríguez announced this through a video posted on her Telegram channel.

It was reported that the Vice President for the Planning Sector, Ricardo Menéndez; the Minister of People’s Power for the Social Process of Labor, Eduardo Piñate; and the President of the CBST, Wills Rangel, were present at this meeting.

On April 30, the head of state announced the increase to $160 of the Minimum Integral Income (IMCI), which is composed of two fundamental elements: the economic war income, which goes from $90 to $120, and the cestaticket (food stamp), which is set at $40, both indexed to the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).

Furthermore, the national leader recalled that since the creation of the automatic indexation mechanism for the Minimum Comprehensive Income (IMCI), income has increased by 135% in the country. «The criminal right wing failed in its attempt to subdue Venezuela; we have performed miracles to protect the workers of the country,» he emphasized.
