The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, set the goal of reaching 100,000 Grandfathers’ and Grandmothers’ Circles nationwide, highlighting the importance of making progress in two of the four pillars that comprise the Great Mission of Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland.
He explained that this task will bring together 2 million men and women of the «Happy Age,» because «our age is the happy age,» as stated the Venezuelan President at the inauguration of the House of Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland in Caracas.
He gave importance, regarding the two key areas that need to be emphasized, to the key to organizing grandparents’ circles.
In this regard, he stated that to date there are «3.2 million registered grandparents, ages 60 and older,» while adding: «The grandparents’ circles have already reached the figure of more than 58,000, with the goal of reaching 2 million grandparents.»
As part of another goal, the head of state demanded even more, aiming to achieve one grandparents’ home per municipality, of which there are 335 nationwide:
«Attention governors, mayors, these are the priorities. Attention, community circles and communes, put the construction of the Grandfather and Grandmother’s Home, the Communal Circuit, there,» he urged the country’s regional authorities.
