The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, shared on his Telegram channel a copmmuniqué in which Venezuela categorically repudiates the false and reckless statements by the commander of the Southern Command, Alvin Holsey, during his recent appearance before the United States (USA) Senate.
He indicated that these statements are unfounded and repeat the same misleading narrative, bought by the Joe Biden administration, with which the Venezuelan far right wing has defrauded them, and has used millions of dollars from the contributions of American citizens:
“The accusations of drug trafficking, corruption and destabilization are nothing more than fake news and dirty war campaigns of the past, which have already proven their failure. They seek to justify their own mistakes, as well as the complicity and corruption that has led them to the situation that extremists in Venezuela face today, also trying to cover up the real networks of illicit trafficking in the region, whose routes are widely known by the Southern Command,” reads part of the letter.
It also states that “the Bolivarian Government reaffirms its commitment to peace, stability and a multicentric and multipolar world. We urge the political sectors of the United States to abandon the rhetoric of confrontation and respect the self-determination of the peoples.”
