The Executive Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Popular Power for Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, reaffirmed Venezuela’s position during the 3rd Energy Week regarding the construction of an energy future free of sanctions and in a responsible, equitable manner so that everyone can access electricity, without sanctions, and emphasized that the common interest is the people.
This Tuesday, Rodríguez participated in the beginning of said meeting in the city of New Delhi, capital of Bharat, India, an event that brings together delegations from more than 100 countries.
In her speech, as reported by Venezolana de Televisión, she expressed the importance of an energy future free of sanctions for the development of all the peoples of the world without restrictions:
“I believe that the discussion that took place in the panel this morning is fundamental, and I also believe that it must be contextualized. Minister Puri said that the transition will come, but I agree that more than a transition it is an evolution, the point is to contextualize how this evolution occurs in a completely unequal world,” said Rodríguez.
She observed that not everyone has access to electricity: “A 9% of the world’s peoples do not have access to electricity, according to the United Nations report.”
“When we talk about evolution we have to ask ourselves: What kind of evolution do we want? An evolution that respects the energy trilemma, that respects energy security, that respects energy accessibility, and that respects climate responsibility,” she said.
The minister assured that the energy trilemma is currently undermined by absurd sanctions, and she also emphasized that renewable energies will not reach the goals they had planned, “there is a climate reality to address, it must be done responsibly,” she warned.
