Castillo: The number of coercive measures imposed by the US against Venezuela rose to 1,027

The Vice Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies of the Ministry for Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade, William Castillo, reported that there are currently 1,027 unilateral coercive measures against the country.

He explained that the 974 already existing are added to those issued on January 10 when “53 measures were issued, 52 personal sanctions against senior public officials and the increase in the reward against President Nicolás Maduro.”

Castillo, who specified that about 17% of the unilateral coercive measures affect the private sector, said that the office he heads records all the sanctioning measures against any person, be it a public official, a private individual, an athlete or an artist, and this affects the country. , “because their family life and business are being disrupted, and they are being prevented from traveling to another country.”

In this sense, Castillo explained that a sanction “is a kind of recognition for a country, because it is doing what is in its own interests, and not in the interests of the United States.”
