During a meeting of the Delegated Commission, the National Assembly (AN) approved this Monday to request the Attorney General of the Republic to apply the Libertador Simón Bolívar Law to the former deputies of the extinct 2015-2021 parliament.
The Delegated Commission of the National Assembly, headed by its president, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, gave the green light to the decision. Rodríguez presented a letter where opposition leaders addressed the United States chargé d’affaires in Colombia and head of mission for Venezuela, Francisco Palmieri. In the letter, the opponents ask for financial support to carry out their work:
“This letter is the conclusive proof that Mrs. Dinora Figuera, Marianela Fernández and Auristela Vásquez must be immediately subjected to what is established in terms of political disqualification and criminal offenses classified in the Simon Bolivar Law and the Forfeiture of Assets,” said Rodriguez.
He said that the members of the 2015 National Assembly, in a secret meeting in Miami, called themselves as the “lifetime assembly,” which violates the laws of the Republic.
In this sense, the president of the National Assembly requested that the penalties provided for in the aforementioned law be applied, such as political disqualification, forfeiture of assets and criminal actions, to those who flagrantly violate the Constitution and the laws of the country.
