Venezuela has a Public Ministry that consolidates peace and guarantees access to justice

The Public Ministry protects the elderly, your pet, says no to femicide and creates campaigns to educate and raise awareness among users”, said the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, at the press conference for the commemoration of the 55 years of the Public Ministry (MP).

He explained that “it is a tribute to the basic, key and strategic legal institution, guarantor of citizen coexistence and human rights (DD. HH.)”, that in the seven years of management has served more than 2,250,000 Venezuelans, making the entity “grow as a protector of peace, justice, human rights, women and the most unprotected sectors”. He added that Venezuela has a Public Ministry that consolidates peace «not only in a preventive way, but also in a punitive way.»

To date, with the “Protect the Elderly” program, it has assisted 31,281 people from this sector and has restored 3,052 illegally occupied properties in one year. Likewise, it created a strategy for the organization of fiscal guidelines for the faithful compliance of those guidelines. It is a «clear and precise format…, to give a technical, legal, penal and ethical sign to the actions.» He stressed that 127 mandatory circulars were issued, «79 of an institutional legal nature and 48 of an administrative nature.»

Saab explained that since 2017, several criminal gangs have been dismantled, with a balance of 242 detainees, 187 arrest warrants, 35 convicted and 113 red alerts of request as results that demonstrate the fight against violence in Venezuela. Also, 44 members of the “Tren de Aragua” criminal group have been arrested, an organization that is used worldwide to damage the image of Venezuela.

The Attorney General highlighted the work carried out by the MP during these years that “has been praised by the humble people, by the common people, by the vulnerable sectors for whom access to justice in the past was impossible to access” and praised that it is an institution that has had to be rebuilt and that “has been reborn for the good of all of us.”

He pointed out that “we have managed to rebuild this penal construction body, bringing the MP closer to the people, to the most vulnerable people, not only in the prosecutor’s offices, not only in the attention to the victim, but also in the street programs, in the actions we do as the “Public Ministry visits your Commune.”

Tarek William Saab praised that the new strategic plan has already been proposed «to give it a new impetus to guarantee the speed of the processes and thus provide timely and effective responses to the community, as is our obligation to combat crime.»
