In a new edition of the program Con Maduro Live de Sudente, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, alerted Venezuelan society about a viral challenge spreading through social networks, called “chroming” that has been affecting children, young people and student communities, with some cases in our country and other parts of the world.
He made a direct call to parents and representatives to be aware of their children: “What do they see on social networks?”, and thus supervise in some way the use of devices to access content on said networks.
Likewise, the Head of State has said that the Bolivarian government has been following up and studying this issue – already with people detained in Venezuela – with cases present in the country, in Higuerote, Miranda state, and in other parts of the territory; seven cases have been registered, two today, one in Guanare and another in Guanarito, in Portuguesa state.
President Maduro has highlighted that in Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Venezuela, the United States and Paraguay, among others, there are already cases linked to this type of challenges: «These are things on social networks, they repeat them and turn it into a fashion so that the boys, who are captured and stimulated by the networks, prepare some products that they then spread on the desks, the floor, bathrooms, and they even stick it on the clothes of their classmates, causing poisoning with various signs.»
He gave instructions to the Minister of People’s Power for Education and Vice President for Socialism in the Social and Territorial scopes, Héctor Rodríguez, to mobilize the teaching profession, the spiritual and moral force of teachers, parents, mothers and representatives, family movement and student movement, together with the pertinent mechanisms according to the law, to protect our children and youth.
He also highlighted all the support to the governor of Portuguesa state, Primitivo Cedeño, with the entire team together, civic-military-police, regarding the cases in the entity, «where there has been a lot of activity by the fascist extreme right wing, especially during the times of the electoral campaign, where there was a lot of violence, a lot of presence, and they immediately call for the schools to be closed,» he said.
For his part, Minister Héctor Rodríguez referred to the National President the reports, investigations and legislation that are being developed in other countries, also highlighting the United Nations, an organ that has issued an opinion on the need for three fundamental aspects, to generate awareness in society and political actors, awareness in youth, and in parents and representatives.
According to the Minister for Education, studies carried out show that exposure to screens on devices in children between zero and five years old, is causing a delay in the growth of the brain of children, which prevents the correct maturation process, in the learning of children when they reach first grade, the stage in which they should learn to read and write, as he pointed out.
