Venezuela occupies fourth place in the ranking of Ibero-American countries with female researchers leading working groups, in addition to emblematic participation in the COVID-19 surveillance network and more than 27,700 girls and boys in the Scientific Seedbeds program, as highlighted the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
From the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, the head of State, accompanied by the Sectoral Vice President for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, presided over a Meeting of Venezuelan Women of Science, and highlighted an extraordinary record of researchers in the Great Mission for Science and Technology and Innovation “Humberto Fernández-Morán”.
“Of 25,877 science researchers: 12,949 are men, 12,928 are women, half and half, it is a beauty,” she expressed, offering data on the advancement of science and technology applied to the protection of the lives of the Venezuelan people. . Of this figure, the average age is relatively young, 49 years, (people) who have knowledge, professional training, titles, commitments and ongoing research projects.
Regarding the Scientific Seedbed program, which is part of the activities of the Ministry of People’s Power for Science and Technology (MinCyT), he compared that in April were registered 15,000 boys and girls between 6 to 12 years old, a figure that jumped to 27,742 participants.
«That’s why I say: we are in the best conditions to set great goals for the future of Venezuela, of the nation, from science, knowledge, creation and innovation, and from technology applied to the development of the Homeland.»
The national leader instructed Vice President Jiménez to activate the mechanisms to deliver scholarships for the training of scientists in the country, in special postgraduate programs and training and preparation in national and international universities.
Regarding this last aspect, he highlighted the possibility of the most advanced universities in the world in the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), which is why he requested coordination with this global bloc and the nations that recently joined the group in what he called “the world of this 21st Century”, which will provide tools to assume cooperation in global knowledge “of the world that has been born.”
“There is an open horizon for the people, and the prophecy of Father Liberator Simón Bolívar is going to be fulfilled, the existence of a balance in the Universe is being fulfilled, and there are the BRICS+ brothers (Plus), who have made tremendous progress in the field of scientific and human knowledge, of new technologies.”
