Within the framework of the commemorative activities for Fisherman’s Day, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the implementation of the Special Safe Fishing Plan that seeks to reinforce the safety of fishermen during their journey, and another to take care of fuel, from Sucre state, accompanied by fishermen and fisherwomen from the eastern region of the country.

Due to losses during work on the high seas, President Nicolás Maduro approved the installation of 300 GPS devices to track the location of work vessels and thus reinforce the safety of fishermen. This represents a significant step towards the modernization of the fishing industry and the protection of its workers, vessels, aligning with the government’s efforts to strengthen the productive economy and ensure the well-being of citizens who depend on this vital activity for their livelihood.

In that sense, the Minister of People’s Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, reported that: “300 cases of boats have been located to which a GPS device will be assigned, which allows monitoring every 35 minutes nationwide. This system will contribute to national security, linking each vessel with the names and surnames of its owners and guaranteeing effective surveillance in Venezuelan territorial waters. So far, 12 devices are already operational.”

While, in a coordinated effort to improve the working conditions of fishermen, the national leader has instructed Minister Loyo and the Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum of Venezuela, Rafael Tellechea, to activate and supervise the execution of the fuel attention plan. with fishermen, in order to provide the necessary amount to boost the nation’s fishing production.
