ANC creates a special chapter to deal with cases of violence against Electoral Power

After the request of the Chairwoman of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena, to investigate the violent acts that were provoked against officials and infrastructures of this organization at national level, destined to impede the elections of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) , the Chairwoman of the plenipotentiary power, Delcy Rodríguez, announced that they will create a chapter of electoral violence to address the allegations of these events.

She indicated that the electoral violence chapter will investigate the aggressions against officials of the Electoral Power: “that turn the will of the Venezuelan people into a democratic expression, of a deep and vigorous democracy. They are guardians of participatory democracy and these officials have claimed and demanded justice because they were attacked by extremist factors”.

In this regard, she reported that cases will be referred to the Public Ministry and the Ombudsman: “These officials have asked for justice and cases can not go unpunished”.

Rodriguez said that between April and July of this year: “The Venezuelans were victims of a disturbing plan of the tranquility of the Republic, a plan of destruction of the homeland led by extremist sectors of the Venezuelan right wing, which were fulfilling an external script to justify an international intervention”, she said.

Therefore: “We must take care of that peace that came with the National Constituent Assembly, but taking care of peace also means that we do acts of justice,” she said.
