As “a historic step to resume the path of dialogue,” the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, described the meeting held this Thursday with his counterpart from Guyana, Irfaan Ali, to address issues concerning the territorial dispute over Guyana Esequiba.
Upon his arrival from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the epicenter of the first day of talks between delegations from Caracas and Georgetown, he pointed out that “it has been worth seeking with Bolivarian Diplomacy the path of understanding to channel the controversy.”
In this sense, he asserted that the meeting with his Guyanese counterpart translates into “a victory of dialogue and peace” as it is a concrete demonstration of the conviction of a “people that loves peace, believes in the truth and is willing to defend it.” always”.

“I felt very satisfied to be able to be face to face, as I wanted, with the President of Guyana,” he added.
He emphasized, on the other hand, that Venezuela will remain firm in dialogue as a mechanism to achieve understanding, always “in defense of our historical reasons and the peace of Venezuela.”
