Proposed review of housing constructions in the face of climate crisis

From the Presidential Command Post in Miraflores Palace, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, proposed to the team of the Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela (Great Mission Housing Venezuela) to review the construction of structures in the face of the climate crisis.

On this point he expressed: “Caring for and protecting the people, a fundamental element of the response to climate change, all of this is rethinking the strategic planning of habitable areas, and of urban areas in 20 years. Attention, I am saying it today, October 18, 2022, it is a challenge for us in Venezuela.”

He specified that the climate crisis “is a challenge for planning, it is a challenge for the Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela, which must be replanned to go to a restructuring change of the human, population, and urban settlements of our country.”

The head of state reiterated that there are 450 homes of the Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela (GMVV) for Las Tejerías, while assessing the availability of land that meets the conditions to build an important group of homes in this sector.

Through the Gran Misión Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor (Great mission New Neighborhood, Tricolor Neighborhood – GMBNBT), houses are being rebuilt in safe areas and housing is being replaced: “This mission is deployed, with the Somos Venezuela (We Are Venezuela) Movement, Civil Protection, Soldiers and paratroopers,” he listed.

In the balance on the attention of the rainfalls in Las Tejerías and El Castaño, the sectoral vice president for Citizen Security A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, explained that they carried out a night tour, they saw large tons of stone, trunk, mud, which made it difficult the advancement of people.

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Civil Protection, Firefighters and volunteers are deployed. More than 300 land rescues and 12 air evacuations were carried out. Among those rescued are 112 students from the University Institute of Civil Aviation.

He explained that, in the evening hours of this Tuesday, is expected the entry to Venezuela of tropical wave No. 45, of the 65 estimated for 2022.

The governor of the entity, Jehyson Guzmán, reported on the damages caused by the heavy rains in the state, specifically, the La Pedregosa community: “(it) has several sectors affected, we deployed jointly, the ZODI, the Fire Department and Civil Protection, the Mayor’s Office of the Libertador municipality”.

Likewise, they work with the National Electric Corporation for the recovery of electrical energy. No human casualties have been reported so far.

With these tasks, the National Government, together with regional and local authorities, respond to the consequences of the climate crisis.
