ALBA condemns attempt to seize Venezuelan Emtrasur plane in Argentina

The Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) condemned the intention of the United States to confiscate the plane of the Empresa de Transporte Aerocargo del Sur (Emtrasur) company, illegally retained by the Government of Argentina.

Through a communique published this Monday by the bloc’s executive secretary, Sascha Llorenti on his Twitter account; the member countries of ALBA “express their profound condemnation of the illegal request by the US Department of Justice, made on August 2, 2022, to seize a Boeing 747 aircraft, owned by the Venezuelan Transportation Company Aerocargo del Sur”, specifies.

Similarly, they state that the intention to seize the Venezuelan plane, owned by the State through Emtrasur, a subsidiary of the Conviasa airline, is part of the unilateral coercive measures against the country, “that threaten the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and violate the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law”.

“The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) express their profound condemnation of the illegal request by the Department of Justice of the United States of America, made on August 2, 2022, to seize a Boeing 747 aircraft owned by the Venezuelan Empresa de Transporte Aerocargo del Sur (Emtrasur), a subsidiary of the Venezuelan Conviasa airline, which is located in Buenos Aires.

The illegitimate and illegal seizure order of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia is a consequence of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government that threaten the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and violate the principles principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law.

The Alliance repudiates the support of unilateral coercive measures against the Venezuelan people and Government and makes a new call to the International Community to demand their immediate lifting.

ALBA-TCP supports the legal measures undertaken by the Venezuelan government to secure its assets”.
