Venezuela reaffirms OPEC’s established commitment

From the 2nd Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2022, held in Turkey, the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that Venezuela ratifies its commitment to the agreement established in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies:

In the absence of a blockade, this would not be the level of oil production in Venezuela, so of course we remain in the OPEC Plus agreement”, emphasized Rodríguez.

In this sense, the vice president highlighted how the US administration of former President Barack Obama used oil as a geopolitical weapon.

Likewise, she emphasized that the coercive and unilateral measures together with the illegitimate blockade against the country significantly affected the nation’s production “causing foreign exchange earnings to drop from 65 billion dollars a year to 740 million in the year 2020”, she detailed.

Rodríguez denounced that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government threaten the world’s economies:

Economic wars only lead to the collective punishment of the peoples, and contribute in no way to the long-awaited surrender longed for by the United States and its followers”, she assured.

In addition, she reported that currently 30 countries are victims of unilateral coercive measures by the West, which has allowed economies, such as the Iranian one, to grow by 250% in 11 years of blockade.

Given this, the National Executive asserted that the resistance and resilience of the Venezuelan population have been unique in these years of blockade “inspired by the highest values in defense of our dignity and national sovereignty.”

Venezuela does not condition US rapprochement:

The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, during the Congress of the PSUV assured that the initial approaches between Venezuela and the United States (USA) cannot be conditioned under any circumstances

Similarly, she reported that the diplomatic approaches of the White House with Venezuela have been carried out within a strict scope of bilateral relations, where in turn they must adhere to the Charter of the United Nations Organization (UN), with the purpose of supporting the sovereign equality of States.

Also, she highlighted that during the meeting held on March 5, she addressed issues of the energy agenda in an explosive market, a product of the conflict between the West and Russia:

“We are willing to engage in energy dialogue with producing companies from the United States and the world, given that all of them are affected by an anachronistic and inefficient policy”, she asserted.

Rodríguez reaffirmed Venezuela’s willingness to enter into a financial dialogue with Venezuelan debt bondholders to honor its international commitments.
