Venezuela rejects declaration of the European Union on parliamentary elections of DEC-6

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the statement issued by the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, on the parliamentary elections held on December 6 in Venezuela. It is regrettable that the EU persists in its interventionist policy towards Venezuela, in frank non-observance of the most elementary principles of International Law.

However, despite this inertial position of the European Union and beyond the colonialist reminiscences contemplated in the aforementioned declaration, Venezuela takes note of the interest expressed by the member states of that organization to accompany and respect the inclusive processes of political dialogue that are undertaken between the Venezuelan men and women, in order to overcome the difficulties of the present conjuncture.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates the broad willingness to dialogue that it has shown in recent years towards all sectors of the Venezuelan opposition, including both those who participated in the electoral process on December 6, and those who decided do not participate.

In this sense, President Nicolás Maduro Moros has already announced the imminence of new meeting processes to which the most diverse political, social and economic actors in the country will be summoned. To this end, the new National Assembly, which should be installed on January 5, 2021, is called to be the great forum for national dialogue in which all actors can participate, without restrictions, to reach the agreements that the people of Venezuela craves and deserves.”
