Electoral Financial Information Workshop held for organizations with political purposes

This Wednesday was held, from the auditorium of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the Electoral Financial Information Workshop for Organizations with Political Purposes (OFP), so that the candidates who will participate in the Regional and Municipal Elections of next November 21, may comply with the rendering of accounts in a transparent manner, on the origin and destination of the economic funds received for the execution of their electoral campaigns.

This activity was in charge of the alternate rector and general director of the National Financing Office (ONAFI), Saúl Bernal, who presented the legal framework that governs the control of the financing and destination of electoral funds, where stand out the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law of the Electoral Power, the Organic Law of Electoral Processes, the Law of Political Parties and the General Regulation of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes.

Bernal reminded that the Electoral Power has an automated accountability system, to which the OFP must upload all the information about the resources used for the electoral campaign, and this in turn allows the CNE to monitor compliance with the regulations regarding the control of the ordinary and electoral campaign financing of the male and female candidates.

Likewise, Bernal stated that the origin of the income of the parties and the electoral campaigns needs to be audited, for which he emphasized the importance of the control and regulation of the funds destined to organizations with political purposes.

In accordance with the provisions of article 257 of the General Regulations of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, financing of the electoral campaign with resources from the State or from any public works or services concession company will not be allowed.

Likewise, financing through donations or anonymous contributions, as well as contributions from companies, governments, organizations or non-resident foreigners is prohibited, as well as those contributions, contributions or donations that are made through deposits or transfers through the financial system or any other method, which makes the identification of the taxpayer difficult or impossible.

He highlighted that in mid-January next year, the CNE will randomly audit some political organizations selected in a previous raffle in order to continue with the procedure, since good financing is an important element for the development and welfare of democracy in Venezuela.
