President Maduro ratifies Padrino López as Minister of Defense

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Wednesday the new formation of the Military High Command, highlighting the ratification as Minister of People’s Power for Defense of General Vladimir Padrino López.

The Head of State, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the FANB, announced the promotions and new incumbents of the commanders of the main components of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, during the Joint Graduation Act to the Degree of Lieutenants and Corvette Lieutenants in the Categories of Command, Technicians and Troops, where he graduated 1,052 new officer men and women, carried out at the Military Academy.

In this context, the National President handed over the clips and capons of General in Chief to Domingo Antonio Hernández Lárez and announced his appointment as the new Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces – CEOFANB.

As Chief of the General Staff of the Strategic Operational Command, Major General Juan Carlos Du Boulay Perozo has been appointed, while the General Command of the Army will be assumed by Major General Félix Osorio.

Likewise, Admiral Alexander José Velásquez Bastidas was appointed as General Commander of the Bolivarian Navy, while Major General Juvenal José Fernández López is the new General Commander of the Bolivarian National Guard.

In the General Bolivarian Militia was appointed Major General Wistohor Chourio Andrade, while Major General Silva Aponte has been ratified as General Commander of the Bolivarian Military Aviation.

The Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, thanked the military leaders who today surrender their command posts and announced that “destiny holds new responsibilities for each one so that they continue to serve the Homeland.”
