Venezuela directs its productive portfolio to the production of food for the social protection of the people against Covid-19

“We have had a serious impact due to COVID-19 due to the health crisis and economic blockade that directly affects the people, therefore, in this context, the productive portfolio will be directed only to the production of food as well as the credits given by banks”, highlighted this Wednesday the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.

At a press conference from Miraflores Palace, in order to clarify the doubts of the announcements recently made by President Nicolás Maduro, she indicated that they are to help the different sectors of the economic areas of ​​the country.

She said that one of the essential programs in the framework of the pandemic is the Local Supply and Production Committee (CLAP), which cannot fail.

The announcement is part of what is established by the National President when announcing various economic measures in favor of workers in private companies, small and medium-sized companies, productive industrialists, public personnel and the popular economy, as well as the benefits and support to those registered in the Patria System.

Delivery of Special Bonuses

In this sense, she affirmed that in attention to each of the most vulnerable Venezuelans during the months of April and May a special bonus system is being installed: The “Quédate en casa” (Stay at Home) Bonus, which will be paid to 2,100,000 workers of the small, medium and micro enterprise, for which the owners must send the list of their workers through the Patria System; Bonus for non-dependent workers for the protection of 4 million people that will be canceled in two moments, social, economic and health care.

Similarly, the Executive Vice President announced that new income will be captured to reinvest in the social sector, therefore “all the steps are being taken to protect 3,581 small and medium-sized companies created amidst the pandemic.”

Shse recalled that evictions from commercial and residential premises are prohibited, as well as the extension of job tenure to protect the stability of workers, “we know that the pandemic contracting the economy can be affected by the payment of rent, for that reason the labor immobility is extended and public services are exempted from payments with a reduction of 25% for those users who cancel the fee for the Patria platform”.

She explained that today, World Health Day, Venezuela vindicates the social programs and the entire universal and free health protection scheme carried out by Bolivarian socialism, “with the Covax mechanism we are doing all possible steps to achieve immunity mass of the Venezuelan people. The efforts of our Bolivarian Government are concentrated for the implementation of mass vaccination in the country”.
