National Government extends radical quarantine for seven days

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Sunday the seven-day extension of the radical quarantine, from this Monday, April 05 until next Sunday April 11.

During the presentation of the weekly balance of the actions to fight and contain Coronavirus, the Head of State stressed that this measure is aimed at curbing the spread of the much more virulent Brazilian variants of the Sars-COV2 coronavirus in the country:

“We assume our responsibility to do in time everything we have to do for the health and life of the Venezuelan family, the 7 + 7 journeys will come again, but we need to radicalize in order to see results,” emphasized President Maduro.

This Sunday, a total of 1,786 COVID-19 infections were registered, of which 1,779 are community-based and seven imported cases, which represents the maximum peak of positive cases a year into the pandemic:

“We have reached the peak in the number of infections, yesterday we did it with the number of deaths with 18, which indicates that the Brazilian variant has a very strong virulence load,” he explained.

For this reason, the Presidential Commission for the Control of Covid-19 recommended the extension of the quarantine for the next 7 days, during which it was requested the maximum collaboration from the population to ensure the expected results.

In this context, the Head of State urged “to maintain care and discipline, to guarantee care in sanitary hotels, to expand capacity in different public and private health centers, in addition to ensuring medicines, health personnel, oxygen and all treatment conditions.”

The rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants grows

President Nicolás Maduro also reported that to date the country registers a rate of 40 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase that coincides with the presence of the two Brazilian variants of covid-19 in the national territory:

Today we have 13,172 active cases, this week 40 cases per 100,000 inhabitants are registered, the highest point we have had in the history of the pandemic in Venezuela. We have to increase the number of beds and expand the attention in the intensive care units, do come on time and receive medical attention”, he said.

The entities with the highest number of active cases to date are Caracas (3,137), Miranda (1,505), Guárico (1,228), Bolívar (1,010), Aragua (699), Monagas (696), Anzoátegui (673), Carabobo (635 ), Nueva Esparta (577), Yaracuy (571) and Zulia (530).

While the states with the highest rates of active cases: are La Guiara with 321 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants; Caracas: 150 cases per 100,000 ; Nueva Esparta 91 cases per 100,000 ; Yaracuy: 76 cases per 100,000 ; Monagas 67 cases per 100,000 ; Bolívar with 53 cases per 100,000 and Miranda with 45 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Attention Miranda:

As for Miranda state, the entity that registered the highest number of cases, 327, in the last 24 hours, the executive vice president Delcy Rodríguez explained that of these 98 correspond to Los Teques, 83 to Sucre (Petare), 30 to Guatire, 20 to Guarenas, 19 to Baruta, 13 to Higuerote, 13 to Carrizal, 12 to Yare, 10 to San Antonio de Los Altos, 6 to El Hatillo, 5 to Chacao, 4 to Ocumare del Tuy, 3 to Río Chico, 3 to Charallave , while Andrés Bello, Santa Lucía and Mamporal register a single contagion, for which he exhorted the population of Miranda to take extreme measures of bio-sanitary protection at all times.

The rest of the community cases are distributed among Anzoátegui (278), Capital District (276), Nueva Esparta (217), Monagas (160), Yaracuy (80), Falcón (59), Carabobo (59), Aragua (55) , La Guaira (44), Guárico (34), Delta Amacuro (27), Portuguesa (26), Apure (26), Cojedes (26), Bolívar (26), Barinas (25), Zulia (18), Sucre ( 13), Amazonas (2) and Lara (1), he pointed out.

Regarding the seven international cases, she indicated that they came from Mexico (3), Colombia (2), the Dominican Republic (1) and Turkey (1). She mourned the death of 15 compatriots, 3 in the Capital District, 3 in Miranda state, 3 in Anzoátegui, 3 in Nueva Esparta, 1 in La Guaira, 1 in Aragua and 1 in Sucre state.

So far, Venezuela maintains 13,372 active cases of COVID-19 and a recovery rate of 91%. At the end of March, 21,381 infections were recorded, explained Rodríguez.
