The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, expressed his confidence that the American people will prevent the actions of warmongering sectors seeking to unleash a conflict over energy resources in the region.
During the 99th edition of his «Con Maduro+» program, the Head of State referred to the recent aggressions by the United States government, particularly the theft of a Venezuelan oil tanker and the forced sale of the Citgo subsidiary:
«I know that the people of the United States will tie the hands of the warmongering madmen who want to impose a war for oil in South America,» affirmed President Maduro.
The Venezuelan President expressed his faith in the seriousness and conscience of US union leaders, politicians, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens, who understand the gravity of the military threats.
«Many political leaders, many, many, and opinion leaders have full conscience of the value of peace in America and the value of respecting Venezuela as an exemplary country,» he remarked.
National Rejection of US Aggressions:
The President reported on more than 300 marches held throughout the national territory in repudiation of the «act of piracy» against a ship carrying Venezuelan oil and the theft of assets through the sale of Citgo.
He cited a survey by the Dataviva firm which, according to his statements, indicates that 96% of the Venezuelan population rejects any military action by the United States against Venezuela, and 88% consider the sale of Citgo a theft: «At this very moment, tremendous mobilizations are taking place,» he added during his program, thanking the «forceful and accurate response» of the Venezuelan people.
He also warned that these actions represent a global threat, comparable to the times of pirates and privateers: «Today Venezuela is defending its rights and we will continue to do so. By defending ourselves, we are defending the right of all humanity to prevent the return of the world of privateers from being imposed,» he sentenced.
