Following the elections in Chile, in which emerged victorious José Antonio Kast, who advocates measures inspired by American white supremacy, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, addressed the Venezuelan migrant community in that country directly. In his «Con Maduro+» program episode 99, the President humbly advised his compatriots: «Come back to the Homeland. This is the Homeland of opportunities and perpetual happiness.»
The Venezuelan Head of State warned the Chilean president-elect about the treatment of Venezuelans. Addressing Kast, he stated: «You may be a self-proclaimed Pinochet supporter, but be careful, don’t lay a single finger on a Venezuelan. Venezuelans must be respected.» The Venezuelan president was emphatic: «Whoever messes with Venezuela dries out.»
The national leader highlighted the value of Venezuelan migrants in Chile, describing them as «good people, who work in Chile, who produce in Chile, who contribute to Chile.» He expressed his concern about possible threats of expulsion and stressed that «Venezuelan migrants have rights, and the Chilean constitution must guarantee them.»
As a protective measure, the Bolivarian leader instructed the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and the president of the Gran Misión Vuelta a la Patria (Great Mission Return to the Homeland), Camila Fabri, to develop a special plan for legal, diplomatic, and logistical support for the entire Venezuelan community in Chilean territory.
In this regard, President Maduro referred to the political challenge facing Chile, describing its people as «noble, progressive, a beautiful people.» To that effect, he noted: «they will have a Nazi Pinochet-supporting president,» but clarified that «these are internal affairs of Chile» in which Venezuela does not interfere.
