Venezuela assumes presidency of the Conference on Disarmament at UN-Geneva with a call for world peace

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela assumed on Tuesday the pro-tempore presidency of the Conference on Disarmament and International Security of the United Nations (UN), with seat in Geneva, and in this forum advocated for world peace, while ensuring that the efforts will focus on overcoming the worrying nuclear scenario that threatens the human species.
The Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Jorge Valero, insisted on the need “to eliminate all mass destruction weapons, especially nuclear weapons. In that sense, trust and respect among States must be fostered”.
He stressed that during the Venezuelan presidency of the Disarmament Commission, necessary efforts will be made to make the constructive and inclusive approach among nations prevail: “We believe that the political will of the peace-loving States can contribute to achieving the objectives, around the issues on the work agenda”, he said.
He rejected the actions of the US representatives and countries of the Lima Group in Geneva that intend to use this body that makes up the multilateral organization with the aim of promoting coup plotting and interventionist opinion matrixes.
Valero repudiated that the United States has a “warmongering, racist, xenophobic and supremacist president”; who in his opinion despises multilateralism.
