Designated new ministers for Electric Energy and Science and Technology


The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appointed the Electrical Engineer, Igor José Gavidia León, as the new Minister for Electric Energy and President of the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec).
In a joint radio and television broadcast, the National President stressed that Gavidia has 25 years of experience in the hydroelectric sector, with which he will assume the new stage of final defeat to the destabilization of the country’s electricity system.
Gavidia, is an electrical engineer graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), who was in charge of the presidency of Electrificación del Caroní (EDELCA) and in the National Electric Load Dispatch Center.
He is also in charge of the team led by the vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, regarding the plan to combat the electrical war launched last Sunday after the last attacks perpetrated on the National Electric System that affected the Republic since last March 7.
Also, the Head of State appointed Professor Freddy Brito as Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology:
“I have decided to activate the Ministry of Science and Technology that had been operating in a single administrative and political unit with the Ministry of People’s Power for University Education, Science, Technology, the time has come to independize science and technology and give it the full range”, he said.
