Maduro: We will not rest until recovering economic stability

“We will not rest until recovering the economic stability of Venezuela”, said on Wednesday President Nicolás Maduro from his official Twitter account on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

This anniversary dates back to October 17, 1987. That day more than one hundred thousand people gathered in the Trocadero square, in Paris, where in 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights had been signed, to pay homage to the victims of the extreme poverty, violence and hunger.

Those gathered there proclaimed that poverty is a violation of human rights and affirmed the need to join forces to guarantee their respect. These principles are inscribed on a memorial slab that was discovered that day and which has been replicated in other parts of the world, including one located in the garden of United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Since then, people of every condition, belief and social origin meet each year before these plaques to renew their commitment and show their solidarity with the poor.
