Venezuela will keep building its democracy despite the attacks of the empire

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, affirmed that Venezuela will keep building its peace and economic stability after the new sanctions issued this Tuesday by the US Treasury Department against Venezuelan officials.

During his statements from the United Nations Organization (UN) in New York, USA, Arreaza said that Venezuela will denounce these sanctions that “are outside the international law” and which obey the Monroe Doctrine – an US foreign policy measure regarding Latin American countries- that end up attacking the countries of the region.

The Chancellor rejected President Donald Trump’s interventionist statements against Venezuela during his participation on Tuesday in the 73rd session of the organization:

“It is an aggression against Venezuela, but also against the thirty-four Latin American and Caribbean States”, said Arreaza, and in this regard he said that, through the historical anachronism, the North American Government has been withdrawing from UN agencies and from international pacts.

In view of this, he indicated that the UN must be more forceful in the face of any government that violates the principles of the Democratic Charter and that promotes unilateralism as a method of ideological attack for the peoples.

He added that, despite the aggressions in Trump’s speech and the sanctions issued by his government, Venezuela will continue to build its peace and economic stability: “Because we are a democratic country that makes its own decisions, together with the people”.

In addition, the Venezuelan Chancellor stressed the importance that represents for the peoples of the region to maintain the union and strengthen ties of integration in the face of the constant aggressions of the United States Government.
