Remigio Ceballos explains US siege campaign against Venezuela

The Commander of the Operational Strategic Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), Remigio Ceballos, denounced on Sunday that the government of the United States (USA) is conducting a campaign of diplomatic siege and pressure against Venezuela, with the collaboration of right-wing governments of the region:

“We knew very clearly of the intentions of the United States Government, which has always been something very public and notorious as it has been directed at a policy of harassment, diplomatic pressure, and siege, along with different governments of the extreme right that they are in our periphery “, he warned in the José Vicente Hoy (José Vicente Today) program, broadcast by Televen.

He noted that with this monitoring they have been able to “make the strategic decisions that are safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation”. Ceballos also indicated that the National Government has very “strong allies”, demonstrated in the “levels of cooperation” between several countries such as Russia, China, Cuba, among others: “These cooperation strategies are allowing us to come forward as a complement to this new economic policy to stabilize us in the economic and social. Before the threat of aggression we have to launch strategies to protect sovereignty”, he said.

In this sense, he denounced the media campaign undertaken by the imperial axes to create an image of an “isolated Venezuela” in order to generate the scenario for a foreign military intervention: “The big media, in the offensive to conquer the public opinion, are governed by world economic powers, which logically are placing their editorials, with the aim of isolating the Venezuelan homeland from the rest of the countries. But Venezuela is not isolated. We maintain a growth that remains under attack”, he said.

In this regard, he referred to the campaign carried out by the US government, through The New York Times, in which he pointed out that the president of the United States, Donald Trump: “had held secret meetings with rebel Venezuelan military to talk about his plans to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro”.

According to a publication of that newspaper, entitled “The Trump government discussed a possible coup d’état with rebel militaries in Venezuela”, a US diplomat met at least three times with the coup leaders, the first one at the end of 2017, the second meeting also happened last year, and the third at the beginning of 2018. Given this, the Commander of the CEOFANB said that these officers “are not a danger for democratic stability, but they are terrorists because they are attacking Venezuelan sovereignty”.

On the other hand, he stressed that in Venezuela will emerge a new opposition willing to dialogue and seek the development of the country, jointly with the National Government. “There are still political figures who can make an opposition and remain. Maybe not in those traditional parties, but I think gradually, the stability and balance of the different systems will be achieved, and a new opposition will arise that wants the development of the country, and that is willing to dialogue to solve the problems. It is not possible to overthrow the Government by force”, he stressed.
