More than 7 million children started the new 2018-2019 school year

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, informed that a total of 7,644,869 students of initial, elementary, middle, technical and special education started the 2018-2019 school year this Monday, September 17.

During his speech from the Simón Bolívar Hall of Miraflores Palace, the Head of State explained that 6,442,296 students attend “public, free, quality education, guaranteed by the Constitution and the Bolivarian Revolution”, while 1,202,573 students are in private education.

He highlighted that more than 80% of the Venezuelan student population receives public education thanks to the Bolivarian revolution.

“Almost 80% of students in Venezuela are in public education thanks to the social state of justice, equality, and Bolivarian socialism that broke the chains of dependency and injustice that bound us to neoliberal capitalism”, said Maduro.

The National Chief Executive stressed that thanks to the socialist model most of the country’s educational spaces were rescued from capitalism, privatization and neoliberalism.
