Venezuela attends 39th session of the Human Rights Council at the UN

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, attends on Monday the 39th session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN).

Larry Devoe, executive secretary of the National Council for Human Rights, said that Chancellor Arreaza “leads a delegation in defense of our country.”

Devoe also indicated that the report of the independent expert on human rights, Alfred de Zayas, will be presented during the work meeting, where it is pointed out that the effects of the economic and financial sanctions imposed against our country – by the Governments of the United States, Canada and the European Union- “have aggravated the shortage of medicines such as insulin and antiretroviral drugs”.

For the expert, the sanctions represent “crimes against humanity” because they affect the Venezuelan people.
