Unity of the peoples of the region will curb imperial attacks

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, on Monday urged the peoples of the continent to strengthen regional unity, with a single goal: To stop the imperial attacks that aim to end the progressive Governments of South America.

“The great key to Latin American and Caribbean unity lies in the peoples. Most of the people are aware of the importance of unity”, said Arreaza during an interview on the “La voz de Chávez” (The Voice of Chávez) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

In this regard, he regretted that several countries of the continent have been subordinated to US imperialism to unlock the unity of the region, forged in recent years and driven by Commander Hugo Chávez, Commander Fidel Castro, former President Nichor Kichner and former President Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva.

“This was the moment, having such a character in the Government of the United States, a racist, a supremacist, a man who insults international law. This was the moment for Governments and peoples to unite against that imperialism in an open manner”, said the head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

“This is the moment of unity and the people if they are conscious. We believe that there is a good process of popular articulation. This is the moment of unity. The fight against imperialism must be on the agenda of the peoples, but not to confront them, but to defeat them”, he added during the interview.

In this regard, he stressed the divisions between the Government of Donald Trump and his allies of the European Union and Canada, evidenced this weekend at the 44th Summit of the Group of Seven (G7), as well as the defeat in the Organization of the States Americans (OAS), which did not have the necessary votes to “suspend Venezuela” of the agency, despite the fact that the South American nation began its withdrawal from the institution last year.

“The countries of the (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas) -ALBA-, were those who voted against or abstained, which is the same as voting against the resolution the US presented to the OAS”, he said. .

“As long as ALBA is maintained, with the sacred fire of Simón Bolívar for unity, we are sure that we will give many battles but that we will win permanently”, he added.
