The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Tuesday the acts of corruption that occurred in the Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) company, discovered last year, as the result of treason by members of the board of the state-owned oil company, with the objective of surrendering it to the United States for its destruction.
“I have evidence that there was a process of penetration, infiltration through corruption and the corrupt ones at the US embassy in key positions in the oil industry to handle strategic information and to permeate key industry processes (…) the corruption went by the hand of treason and many of the corrupt people who fled and those who are prisoners collaborated for a process of self-destruction and delivery of the oil industry”, he warned.
The Head of State explained that the collaboration of the members of PDVSA happened in exchange for personal benefits. He urged the Minister of People’s Power for Communication, Jorge Rodríguez, to retrieve documents that show the different irregularities that have occurred, in order to take actions in this regard.
“We have to know what happened, where it happened, how it happened to root out the evil, because the revolution that I am proposing to make a profound revolution of the working class, a revolution of an ethical nature, a real new socialist, revolutionary PDVSA, a example for the world that is born from the working class, “he said.
